Alojera is a hamlet in the town Vallehermoso in the west of the Canary Island of La Gomera.
There are approximately 100 houses in Alojera, widely grouped around a plaza at about 250 m above sea level with a small church, a school and a bar. To the east, rises a steep rock wall. The road leads over the mountain village of Vallehermoso Epina and winds past the old cemetery in the first place known as "El Mono". From there, leading up to an intersection, a sub street to the Plaza.
A road runs approximately 1 km to "Playa de Alojera".
In Playa de Alojera the road ends in a few parking lots on the bay. The bay is semicircular shape made of sand and gravel. On shore there are many nested houses and apartments as well as the wonderful seafood restaurant El Prisma, their are also a couple of small supermarkets and bars dotted around.
Alojera is a center of the “palm honey†production on the island of La Gomera.
Due to its special geographical position, Alojera is a valley in the north of La Gomera with relatively long hours of sunshine per year. On average in the winter months highs of 25 degrees are common, the summer months are 2-3 degrees warmer.
The beach front (playa) is one of the nicest beaches on the island of La Gomera, it is quiet and has a rock built swimming pool fed via the sea, their is also a pier of approx 70 metres long, which is a great place to fish or just relax on.
